How to get rid of stubborn stains

Red Wine, Fruit Juice

For white cotton or linen:
Pour boiling water through the stain from a height of about 60cms.

Other fabrics:
Sponging the stain with warm water works wonders. If the stain persists, work warm glycerine into the spot, using your fingers, before washing normally in quality washing liquid/powder.

Chocolate

Scrape off excess chocolate before applying a paste of quality washing powder/liquid. Lather in warm water, rinse, then wash normally in the powder/liquid.

In some stain remains on white cotton or linen, sponge with household bleach. For washable colours, sponge with hydrogen peroxide.

Lipstick

Place a cotton wool ball on top of the stain. Soak a second cotton wool ball in some drycleaning fluid and dab the underside of the stain until the stain is drawn out and transferred to the top cotton wool ball. Finish off with a normal wash.

Sweat

Pre-treat the stain with a paste of washing powder/liquid, leaving it to soak overnight, before washing normal.

Ball-point pen

Sponge with methylated spirits, soak overnight in a solution of W. Rinse thoroughly, then wash normally.

Grass

The quickest and easiest way to remove these is with some dry cleaning fluid, followed by diluted methylated spirits. After sponging the stain, rinse and wash normally. For really stubborn grass stains, however, apply a layer of washing powder paste to the stain and leave it to soak overnight, before washing.
